TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Gives Grandmother Coolest Mother’s Day Gift Ever

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Gives Grandmother Coolest Mother’s Day Gift Ever

I LOVE this idea for a Mother’s Day gift.

This family took their grandmother’s handwritten recipe for chicken salad, blew it up huge, and made it the wallpaper in their pantry.  Then they surprised her with the reveal of it on the wall. It almost reminds me of a rustic kitchen type vibe.

The video of them showing her is going viral now and her reaction is amazing.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What does the Cinco de Mayo holiday actually celebrate?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What does the Cinco de Mayo holiday actually celebrate?

Today is Cinco de Mayo.  Every year people seem to get confused to what this holiday is actually celebrating. A lot people think it’s Mexico’s Independence Day. It’s not. Others think it’s just an excuse to drink a ton of tequila and eat a million tacos. Also not the reason.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th 1862.  The victory was a major win for Mexico.

There you go, now you know your Cinco de History as you enjoy that guac tonight.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  To celebrate, Anna has busted out a pair of Maracas to play her favorite game; Name That Tune: Maracas Edition!  Anna plays three popular songs on the Maracas and Raven has to guess what they are! (:30)

Still trying to figure out a Mother’s Day gift for the mom in your life?  How about a custom made, original song?  The best part is, you don’t even have to write it yourself!  Go to Mother’s Day Melody at AnnaAndRaven.com and tell Anna and Raven what makes your mom special.  Producer Jon will then write a brand new original song all about your mom.  Today, Taylor and her mom Cynthia are on the show to hear the premiere of Cynthia’s custom-made Mother’s Day Melody!  (3:42)

Making a Mexican feast tonight for Cinco De Mayo?  Anna and Raven brought Food Network’s Chef Plum on the show to give some quick tips on how to make some delicious home-made tortillas!  He also offers some surprising scientific insight on why some tomatoes contain Salmon DNA…  (6:51)

Pregnancy is a special time in a relationship, but if you walk around saying THIS all the time when your partner is pregnant, that’s all I need to know about you!  (14:01)

Anna read that not only are avocadoes delicious, but they also are great for your skin!  Since it’s Cinco De Mayo, she thought she would test this out by rubbing a mixture of avocado and honey all over Producer Sean.  Sean wasn’t immediately excited about this but wait until you see what it does to his skin!  (17:11)

Can you think like a stranger?  Anna and Raven have an Amazon Echo to give away, and all you have to do to win is answer five crazy Mother’s Day themed questions!  If your answers match a stranger that Producer Jon interviewed, you win the prize! (23:01)

Is there something you quit as a kid that you wish your parents had made you continue doing?  Anna’s daughter Hayden was so good at drama, so Anna was heartbroken when she said she wanted to quit!  Luckily, Hayden is still involved in drama, but it doesn’t always end up that way.  One caller regrets quitting Karate when she was a child, and the reason she quit is so sad!  (26:05)

Couples Court: Jacob’s best friend’s wife is super mean to his wife, Hannah. Hannah says she wants to confront her and list all the things she has done that makes her rude. She wants to call her and have the discussion before they ever go out with them again. Jacob says they only see them a few times a year, why cause drama? She says no way and that she must get it off her chest. Whose side are you on?  (32:24)

Mike has a shot at $200!  All he has to do is beat Raven in pop culture trivia!  (39:42)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 24-year-old Goes Viral Raising Thousands For Homeless Man In New Haven

This story is incredible.

A 24-year-old guy named Philip Vu quit his bank job a while back to live out of his car and travel.  A life changing road trip that he never imagined would lead to what he ended up doing here in Connecticut.

While passing through New Haven on his journey he made friends with a homeless guy named Mike. Philip thought Mike was so interesting that he started posting videos of their conversations online, and they went viral. Them eating lunch, dinner, just driving talking about life. his followers started to reach out to ask how they could help Mike. Phillip decided to set up a GoFundMe account for him and ended up raising $17,000!!

Here’s the video of him giving Mike an envelope with the first thousand dollars.  His reaction is priceless.

If Phillip can do this for one man in New Haven, imagine what could be done across the country to try and help people in need get back on their feet.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What species is Yoda? And is he considered a Muppet?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What species is Yoda? And is he considered a Muppet?

Happy Star Wars Day! As you’ve probably seen plastered all over your social feeds by now… it’s May 4th. Get it? “May the 4th be with you”.

So I figured we would make today’s Mundane Mystery Star Wars related. What species is Yoda and is he considered a Muppet?

That first part about what species he is has actually never been explained in any of the movies. As Yoda would say… “A mystery, it is”

As for the second question I’ve heard this a lot. People thinking that Yoda falls under the Muppet category because Frank Oz who was a legendary Muppeteer voiced Yoda. Despite Jim Henson overseeing the creation of the character he never actually had any involvement in building Yoda. That was all George Lucas and his staff at Lucasfilm. Therefore, Yoda… technically not a Muppet.
