TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: College Professor Gets Creative To Make Sure Students Have Nice Thanksgiving This Year

Thanksgiving is going to be a lot different for many people this year thanks to this stupid virus. Some college students won’t even be able to leave campus to come home to their family which is very sad. Luckily there are many stories popping up of people helping out students. Like Elizabeth Pearce who teaches at The University of Iowa. Last week she sent out an email to her students offering to deliver Thanksgiving dinner to their dorms on Thursday if they couldn’t make it home this year. How nice is that?! Such a wonderful thing to do.

One of her students tweeted about it and the email went viral.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Especially the college students.

Why The Weeknd Got Snubbed By The Grammys, A Theory

Why The Weeknd Got Snubbed By The Grammys, A Theory

The Grammy nominations came out this week and ooooh boy was there drama. The one glaring omission from the list of nominees was a guy who has the number 1 selling album this year and the the biggest song of 2020 by a mile. Yes, The Weeknd received… *checks notes*… zero nominations. ZERO. Unreal.

Now, you’re asking yourself why? Some say the Grammy’s are corrupt (like The Weeknd himself posted). But I have a different theory… hear me out…

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What happens to the turkey that the President Pardons?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What happens to the turkey that the President Pardons?

dThe Presidential pardoning of the turkey is one of my favorite annual traditions around this time of year. One lucky turkey gets spared by the leader of the free world. But what happens to the turkey after the pardon? Do they just go back to regular turkey life? Vacation? Roaming the streets again?

Every president has pardoned a turkey since George H.W. Bush officially started the tradition back in 1989. In 2005 and 2009, the pardoned turkeys went to Disneyland and Walt Disney World parks to serve as grand marshal in their annual Thanksgiving parades. That’s so fun! It’s like they won the Super Bowl or something. “I’m going to Disneyworld! Gobble Gobble!”

From 2010 to 2013, the lucky birds vacationed at Washington’s Mount Vernon state. Fancy.

No word yet on the plans of this year’s turkeys who’s named are Corn and Cob. They might be staying home for the holidays like everyone else. They did spends some time at the very nice Willard InterContinental hotel, in DC before their pardon though.

Tell Me Something Good: Guy Suprises Restaurant Staff With Crazy Tip Just Before They’re About To Shut Down

Tell Me Something Good: Guy Suprises Restaurant Staff With Crazy Tip Just Before They’re About To Shut Down

So many restaurants and staff struggling this year because of the virus. Any way you can support your local eateries by ordering takeout or leaving extra tip goes such a long way to support them and your community. Every little bit helps, but this one guy in Cleveland decided to make more than a little bit of an impact.

A bar he goes to in Cleveland just found out they have to shut down again because of the virus.  So on the last day they were open, this guy walked right in, ordered a beer, and left a $3,000 tip for the whole staff to split.

Incredible.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What are the metal loops on grocery cart handles for?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What are the metal loops on grocery cart handles for?

You’ve probably been doing a lot of grocery shopping this year. As you’re pushing your cart out of the store or loading up your bags you may have noticed the metal loops on the grocery cart handle. Right at the seat where kids can sit. But what are they for?!

It actually serves a very practical purpose that most people have no idea about. That loop is meant to hang bags with delicate items, like eggs or bread, which you don’t want crushed under everything. So as you walk your cart out to the car they can hang right from that loop.

Totally trying this next time I make a grocery run.
