MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why are hyperlinks always blue?

You probably clicked millions of links in your internet life. And have most likely noticed that most of them are highlighted in blue. But why that color?

It all started back when the internet first came around and there were only a few web browsers. The most popular being Mosaic on Windows. Because the background was gray and the text was black lighter colors didn’t really show up well. So they went with the dark royal blue we all see today when we click a link.

Obviously now we’ve come so far that link colors can be changed, but when you see that OG blue hyperlink now you know how it all started.
