MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Can Christmas trees be recycled?

A lot of people who put up their Christmas tree a month ago will be itching to take it down on December 26th. Maybe it’s browning a little bit, losing some pine needles and making a mess. So, can trees be recycled?

A lot of towns have programs to leave your tree in front of your house for pickup or there might be tree pickup locations. So check with your local officials.

But the wackier part of this… is if you are REALLY into reusing your Christmas tree some people actually eat it! The needles provide vitamin C. You can also eat pine nuts, if your tree had pine cones on it. Be careful since those needles can be sharp. Maybe look up a recipe.  Some places donate the old trees to zoos to use for food for the zoo animals too.
