TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD! Inspiring High School Football team defies odds on their way to undefeated season

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD! Inspiring High School Football team defies odds on their way to undefeated season

It’s hard for any team to go undefeated no matter the sport or level of the league. It’s even more challenging when the team is up against something beyond just wining games.

This is exactly the case with “The Cubs”, an undefeated varsity football team in California. They’ve been all over the news lately because all of the players are deaf.  The players rely on sign language which competing, and somehow they have gone 12 and 0 so far this year.

This is a team who hasn’t even had a winning record in the last seven years.  If they can win their next game this Saturday, it will be the first division title in ANY sport in the school’s 68-year history! Unreal.

I for one will absolutely be cheering them on this weekend.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does turkey make us so sleepy?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does turkey make us so sleepy?

It’s going to happen to all of us on Thursday right around an hour after your second helping of turkey. Eyes start to get heavy, the couch gets a little more comfy, the traditional post-meal nap! All thanks to turkey. But why?

Turkey contains something called L-tryptophan. Which is an amino acid linked with sleep. It encourages serotonin production in your brain that in turn makes you feel relaxed and sleepy.

While turkey has a ton of L-tryptophan, it’s not the only food that has it. Any high-protein food you eat on a regular basis, like other meats, cheese, nuts can have the same effect. So any of those Thanksgiving cheese boards could be the culprit too.

Happy napping!

Nathan and Stephanie are hosting a big Thanksgiving gathering at their home this year and Stephanie has high hopes of having an electronic free day. There are so many teenagers (between their kids, nieces, nephews, etc.) that she wants to ban phones and TV from the dinner table. Nathan says it’s asking for problems, their guests and it’s supposed to be a fun day. Why put restrictions on them? Let them just enjoy it… plus, he wants to watch football while they eat.
