Wednesday April 14, 2021: Wellness Wednesday; Roadside Treasure; Raven Talks To Babies

What would you do if 1.2 MILLION dollars suddenly appeared in your bank account?  Would you report it and make sure it got back to whoever accidentally sent it to you?  Or would you do what this police dispatcher did yesterday?  (00:30)

Do you have a great idea for an invention?  Anna and Raven have a whole bunch of ideas, and they think it’s gonna make them a lot of money!  Brian Fried is the founder and CEO of InventorSmart.com, and he’s got some tips to help you turn your idea into the next big thing!  (4:03)

What if there was one drink that could do it all!?  Prevent hangovers, boost your mood, prevent cancer, all of it!  Anna and Raven have discovered it, and it’s probably in your fridge right now!  (11:35)

It’s nice to have fun in the workplace every once in a while, but if you do THIS every time you throw something away, that’s all I need to know about you!  (14:56)

What’s your roadside treasure?  Have you ever found something on the side of the road that you took home with you?  Raven almost took home an old arcade game he saw on the side of the road, but one caller found something that got her $2000!  (18:34)

Are you good with babies?  Raven is a dog person, and dogs tend to love him, but small children are a little more undecided.  They either love him or hate him!  So Anna decided to conduct an experiment and have babies call into the show.  But Raven wasn’t prepared for the ultimate test; speaking to Anna’s temperamental two-year old!  (28:47)

Couples Court: Brett and Jessica are going on vacation for a week and leaving their 16- and 19-year-old children at home. Jessica wants to hire a babysitter to come stay at their house. Brett says that’s ridiculous, they’re old enough, plus they just need to threaten them about behavior and trust them. Mom says the investment of $600 for the sitter is worth the peace of mind especially since a couple years ago their older son threw a party that ended with the police officers at their house. Whose side are you on?  (39:02)

Raven is on a roll and the jackpot is up to $2700!  Does Megan have what it takes to beat him at pop culture trivia and claim the prize?  (46:47)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Thousands Raised For Charity Just By Eating Delicious Sandwiches

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Thousands Raised For Charity Just By Eating Delicious Sandwiches

Anytime you can raise a whole bunch of money for charity and enjoy some delicious sandwiches at the same time, it’s a win-win all around.

Our friends over at Jersey Mike’s do a big charity event every year called “Day of Giving,” where all the locations around the country donate 100% of the day’s sales to charity.  This year they set a new record! Between their 1,900 stores in the U.S., including a bunch here in Connecticut, they donated $15 million, which was almost double their goal!

Here in Connecticut alone they brought in more than $225,000 that all went towards the goal.

I’m a #7 Turkey & Provolone guy myself (Always the Mike’s Way! if you know, you know) Glad to see my lunch went to a record breaking good cause that day.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What’s the difference between Iced Coffee and Cold Brew?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What’s the difference between Iced Coffee and Cold Brew?

Mmm… coffee. One of my favorite topics. When it comes to iced coffee and cold brew a lot of people think they are the same. But they are very different!

Iced coffee is made by brewing hot coffee, letting it cool, and then pouring it over ice. It’s quite literally hot coffee with iced that has cooled off. It does make for a very refreshing treat on a nice day though.

The main thing that makes cold brew different is that it’s made without heat. You steep ground coffee in cool, filtered water for hours at a time, which is what takes away a lot of the acidity you get with regular drip coffee. This is also why you get that sort of smooth, velvety, almost sweet taste with cold brew. Mmmmm.. I do love a cold brew.

the other question everyone always wonders is about the caffeine. Cold brew does in fact have a tad more because the coffee grounds are in longer contact with the water which means cold brew contains more caffeine than iced coffee.

Is Raven Really The “King of Cool”?

Is Raven Really The “King of Cool”?

Raven says he knows just about every slang word you can think of, or can at least figure out what the word means if he hasn’t heard it before. Anna decided to give him a few and put him to the test. Is Raven really the “King of Cool” and keeping up with today’s lingo?

Anna’s Zip Line Incident

Anna’s Zip Line Incident

It doesn’t take much for a tween to get embarrassed by their parent, but what if your tween was embarrassed about you saving someone’s life! Ok, maybe not their life, but certainly saving them from some inconvenience. Anna tells this whole crazy story in the podcast!

Tuesday April 13, 2021: Thought You Had It Bad; Zip Lines; Wrong Advice Only

The vaccine card is one of the must have items of 2021!  People are doing all kinds of things to keep track of their cards and keep them safe.  But some of these safety measures may be doing more harm than good!  Anna did some research on the do’s and don’ts of caring for your vaccine card!  (00:30)

It doesn’t take much for a tween to get embarrassed by their parent, but what if your tween was embarrassed about you saving someone’s life!  Ok, maybe not their life, but certainly saving them from some inconvenience.  Anna tells this whole crazy story in the podcast!  (3:22)

Canceling a subscription will usually involve an uncomfortable conversation with customer service, but if the guy on the phone gives you some crazy guilt trip, that’s I need to know about them! (7:21)

Have you ever received the wrong package from the post office?  Anna sent her brother a package and the box got there, but it had the wrong stuff inside it!  How does something like that happen?  Amy Gibbs, Communications Expert at USPS, calls in to lend some professional insight into the situation!  (11:16)

Having a bad day?  Don’t worry, no matter how bad you’ve got it, someone on twitter probably has it worse and they’ve definitely tweeted about it!  Anna and Raven cheer you up by reading the best “bad day” posts on twitter!  (15:02)

The First Dog, Major Biden, has not been a very good boy, he’s been biting people!  Luckily, Caesar Millan the Dog Whisperer is on the case!  But Anna thinks she’s figured out the reason Major keeps biting people…  (18:35)

If your adult son gave you a lecture about getting rid of a family heirloom, how would you react?  Well that’s exactly what Producer Sean did yesterday, and he should be ashamed of himself!  But after hearing his story, Raven thinks he may have a point…  (21:44)

If someone cut the line in front of you, would you say something?  It happened to Anna over the weekend and she feels like she should have done more!  So, she asked people to call in with their advice.  But not real, good advice.  Anna is looking for wrong advice only! (29:03)

Couples Court: Jeff broke up with his ex-fiancée last year and she never returned the ring. It was his grandmother’s ring. Now, Jeff and his new girlfriend Tanya have become serious and are talking about getting married. Tanya thinks she should call his ex-fiancée and get the ring back. He thinks that he should just let it go since they did not end on good terms and he’d rather not have to talk to her. (Note: He left his ex to be with Tanya). Whose side are you on?  (36:49)

Raven is on a roll!  Does Suzanne have what it takes to finally beat him and claim the $2600 jackpot?  (45:19)
