This Sunday you’ll probably celebrate Mother’s Day with a very nice brunch, cooking pancakes at home for Mom, or even taking Mom to one of her favorite places in Connecticut. But I can guarantee none of you will be celebrating how this mother daughter team is.
Jess Wedel is a a cancer survivor from Oklahoma who is currently climbing Mount Everest with her 61-year-old mom, Valari. They’ve been on their journey and were waiting for better weather to do the last stretch. That better weather has come right in time for Mother’s Day. If they make it to the top, they’ll be the first mother-daughter team from the U.S. to ever conquer Everest together.
Good luck, ladies!

Let’s be honest, Mom would probably enjoy any kind of flower you get her but for some reason carnations are always the most popular. Why is that?
A woman named Anna Jarvis created Mother’s Day in the early 1900s and at the time she was pushing for President Woodrow Wilson to declare Mother’s Day an official holiday. This started the trend of wearing a carnation to honor all the mothers. Over the years it became tradition to get red or pink carnations as a nice gift to celebrate your mom.
Hear that Dads… now you know why you’re buying those beautiful looking carnations this weekend.

A very exciting New Music Friday this week! Two of our favorite Star artists both dropping new songs on the same day. Coldplay and P!nk.
Let’s start with Coldplay. They’re finally back with new music after that last arty album a few years ago which had flutes and handclapping on most of the songs. Now it seems they’re back to big hooks and hits in 2021.
The new song is called “Higher Power” and they will be performing it on American Idol this Sunday night as part of Coldplay Night on the show. All the contestant will perform Coldplay songs.
To celebrate the release the guys also did a video chat with French astronaut who is currently on board the International Space Station. Pretty neat.

All week long, people have been telling Anna and Raven all about what makes their mom special, and Producer Jon has been taking those emails and turning them into personalized Mother’s Day songs! Mom says he’s still their son, they can’t just lock him out like a stranger! Whose side are you on? (37:02)
